What is a HIPAA Release?
When the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 was enacted, medical providers have been reluctant to share any information for fear of violating HIPAA. A HIPAA release is necessary for the doctor to share information with you that would be vital to making healthcare decisions (usually under a medical power of attorney).
How do I obtain a HIPAA Release?
Generally a consultation is not necessary, most clients prefer to save the money and just fill out our medical power of attorney paperwork and have us prepare a HIPAA release along with the medical power of attorney.
If you feel you need a consultation, we can offer you an in-office consultation but you will have to pay the standard hourly rate (one-hour minimum fee).
